MilitaryFieldManuals.net (MFM) is an e-commerce site aiming to facilitate the finding and accessing of military manuals. The site design is clean and portrays a nice balance of ruggedness and professionalism. The site works as good as it looks too. The custom shopping cart and manuals locator are AJAX driven, making them much more responsive and easier to use. Each time a setting is changed or a manual is added to the cart, the entire page does not need to refresh, as only the affected portion of the page is updated. The site is easy to maintain since it was built on a content management system (CMS) and adheres to the latest web standards (W3C compliant CSS and XHTML).

This is the site’s homepage.

This is the military manual finder. Search criteria can be changed to easily drill down to the desired manual. The results area is AJAX driven, which allows the new content to be loaded in without having to refresh the entire page.

The single entry view has more information than the list view, such as a description and the manual’s categories.

The checkout page allows the user to view all of the items in their cart, and then allows them to sign in or register. If they are registering for the first time, they are automatically logged in and advanced to the final checkout stage.

The entire site is search enabled, which facilitates locating a specific manual.

Each registered user has a profile page where they can easily modify their contact info and access their transaction history.
